Data Science Intern

Geoblink is looking for a passionate person in Data Science to do an Internship in Data Mining & Analysis. You would join a team of data scientists with different backgrounds (physicists, mathematicians and GIS developers) in order to boost our spatial databases and analysis frameworks.

At Geoblink we use some of the latest technologies to find solutions to some very hard problems We leverage Big Data to create a beautiful map-based user interface that provides a rich user experience. We have fun solving interesting challenges! Our systems are built using an SOA approach that allows us to perform multiple deployments per day. We <3 monitoring, pull requests, continuous deployment and automated testing. The trunk of our stack is PostgreSQL, Node.js and Angular, but our architecture is language-agnostic. We move fast but put a lot of thought into the design of our architecture so that it’s simple and scalable. We write clean, flexible code to produce great software that solves the needs of our clients.

  • Prior experience on SQL languages (PostgreSQL is a plus) and Python.
  • Minimum experience using Linux systems.
  • Prior experience with Git or other Version Control System is a plus.
  • Knowledge of QGIS, R, Spark or NoSQL is a plus.
  • Good academic performance is a plus.
  • Prior work/intern experience is a plus.

  • Student of areas relevant to Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or related field.
  • Somebody with strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
  • Somebody with constant desire to learn and improve.
  • Proactive, independent worker with proven ability to work well with others.

You will:

  • Contribute to the growth and improvement of Geoblink’s databases.
  • Develop efficient tools and algorithms in different areas of analysis (such as web scrapping, geolocation, data mining, etc).
  • Analyse and verify the existing data.
  • Deliver relevant technical solutions on time.
